By releasing a $55 processor with Radeon Vega Graphics, AMD is going after both Intel's desktop Celeron / Pentium family, and the low-power Gemini Lake range. The Athlon 200GE is a dual-core (four threads) SKU, running at 3.2GHz, enough horsepower for light gaming, web browsing, and HTPC duty.
It's so good to finally see a proper launch and a retail box for a 35W CPU (we campaigned for it for years). A small thermal enveloppe means that passive cooling is easily achievable, paired with Arctic's
Alpine AM4 heat sink or most dual towers. More good news: a 220GE and a 240GE are also coming later this year.
