We are firm believers that Mini-STX is not appealing enough. Only an inch smaller than Mini-ITX, Mini-STX simply doesn't bring anything new to the table.
Passive cooling would be an amazing selling point.
For example, if ASRock's DeskMini was a tad larger it could fit Arctic's Alpine 12 Passive CPU cooler. We just emailed our friends over at ASRock about it. If you agree with us feel free to email them too at info@asrock.com.tw (tell them we sent you!).
